While designing the school physics lab furniture, the first thing to weigh in on and consider would be the dimensions and layout of the lab. It is important to note if the available lab space abides by the guidelines set by the affiliation body the school adheres to (e.g., CBSE). Next, it is important to confirm the compliance of the infrastructure with the safety guidelines set by the respective governing body, such as ample amounts of fire safety exits and so on. The second factor to be ascertained is the student batch strength. These two factors will help us determine the basic layout and structure of the lab.

Physics lab work tables require a large amount of space to accommodate all instruments and apparatus. Electrical connections are required in each table at the right location to connect these instruments and apparatus. An electrical circuit breaker that protects against short circuit is provided in each line going to the table. A Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) is provided at the incoming line to the lab. Cupboards and drawers are provided in the table to keep the individual equipment and personal protective items. All drawers and cupboards are provided with locks and keys.

Electrical connections can be made easily from the available sockets on each table. Safe to use, a breaker is provided on each table. Individual apparatus and personal productive equipment (PPE) can be stored at each student’s work space by using under-bench cupboards. Electrical cable laying and repairs are easy through the side service doors.
